Overview
Humminbird HELIX 7 CHIRP is a family of fish finder/GPS chartplotters built around a high-definition 7-inch display. Every model includes Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar, an internal GPS receiver, Humminbird Basemap and AutoChart Live. Depending on the selected model, the unit adds CHIRP Side Imaging, MEGA Down Imaging, MEGA Side Imaging and, on G4N models, Ethernet networking, Bluetooth and NMEA 2000.
Clear 7-inch display and keypad control
The 7-inch colour TFT display with 1024 × 600 resolution presents sonar, chart and data views clearly, including split-screen layouts. The HELIX keypad and X-Press menu system provide quick access to the most-used settings even with wet hands or while the boat is moving. Preset views make it easy to switch between 2D sonar, imaging, chart and combined pages.
Sonar technologies
- Dual Spectrum CHIRP: the Low-Q CHIRP transducer separates fish arches, bottom and underwater structure. Wide Mode maximises coverage, while Narrow Mode concentrates on fine target separation.
- CHIRP Side Imaging: the SI model displays the water to both sides of the boat, helping locate fish and structure without driving directly over them.
- MEGA Down Imaging: MDI models use frequencies up to 1.2 MHz to reveal more detail directly below the boat than conventional Down Imaging.
- MEGA Side Imaging: MSI models add high-resolution side views together with MEGA Down Imaging.
- Sonar recording and screenshots: sonar data can be recorded for later review and screenshots are supported.
GPS, charts and AutoChart Live
The built-in GPS stores waypoints, routes and tracks. Humminbird Basemap provides a navigation base map, while the unit supports Humminbird LakeMaster, CoastMaster and compatible Navionics charts. AutoChart Live creates personal maps while the boat is moving, recording depth contours, bottom hardness and vegetation. Eight hours of recording are available internally, and an AutoChart Zero Line microSD card greatly expands capacity.
Difference between G4 and G4N
G4 models operate as stand-alone chartplotter/fish finders with one microSD slot. G4N models add Ethernet, Bluetooth, NMEA 2000, dual microSD slots and One-Boat Network compatibility. G4N versions are the better choice for multi-display systems and integration with MEGA Live, Minn Kota i-Pilot Link, Talon/Raptor anchors, AIS, radar and autopilot equipment.
