Detailed description
The GPSMAP 84xx xsv series is a premium chartplotter and sonar combination for sport anglers, recreational boaters and sailors building a complete glass-bridge helm. The Full HD IPS touchscreen has a wide viewing angle, is sunlight-readable and remains visible through polarised sunglasses. The 10-, 12- and 16-inch displays can be installed alone, side by side or flush in a glass-bridge layout.
Built-in dual-channel 1 kW CHIRP can operate two CHIRP frequency ranges simultaneously. The unit also supports traditional 1 kW sonar, CHIRP ClearVü and CHIRP SideVü scanning, Ultra High-Definition ClearVü and SideVü, and compatible Panoptix and LiveScope transducers. Actual frequency, output and maximum depth depend on the connected transducer and water conditions.
Connectivity and system expansion
Garmin Marine Network and NMEA 2000 create a complete onboard system with radar, autopilot, AIS, cameras, instruments, engine data, weather, audio and forward-looking sonar. Network data can be shared across multiple displays. OneHelm brings compatible third-party digital switching, lighting, stabilisers and other vessel systems to the chartplotter screen.
A high-performance processor provides rapid chart drawing, smooth networking and video distribution. Built-in Wi-Fi connects to ActiveCaptain for OneChart, software updates, smart notifications and Quickdraw Community data. ANT connects compatible quatix watches, the gWind Wireless 2 transducer and wireless remotes. Video from a GC 100 wireless camera and compatible VIRB cameras can be viewed and controlled on the chartplotter.
Operation and viewing modes
SmartMode manages networked sonar, radar, cameras, media and digital switching through user-defined views. A single touch can open a layout for docking, fishing, cruising or night operation. This reduces menu navigation in demanding situations and keeps essential information immediately visible.
SailAssist provides pre-race guidance, virtual start line, race timer, enhanced wind rose, heading line, ground-referenced course line, true and apparent wind fields and tide, current and time views. Configurable instruments display wind angle, wind speed, current direction and speed as values or graphs.
GPS, navigation and mapping
Two SD card slots support marine charts and user data. The unit stores up to 50,000 track points, 50 saved tracks and 100 routes with up to 250 waypoints each. AIS and DSC support display vessel targets and position data from compatible VHF radios. Garmin radar, Fusion-Link and Garmin Meteor audio support integrate navigation and entertainment at the helm.
